The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, with the Disney sub-studio now offering up the first trailer for this November's Doctor Strange and other news of interest regarding their films.
SPIDER-MAN - HOMECOMING: That's the title given to the new Spidey film from Sony that's being produced by Marvel for the studio. The announcement was made at Cinemacon by Sony motion picture chairman Tom Rothman. That movie, being released July 7, 2017, stars Tom Holland as the title role, the actor first appearing as the character in next month's Captain America: Civil War, as well as Maria Tomei as Aunt May (that's a different take) and Zendaya as Michelle. Directingg is Jon Watts. Of the presentation at Cinemacon, Deadline describes it as follows: "Holland introduced footage where Parker enters his home to find Aunt May with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Stark tells Parker that he has applied for a special grant, and that he has been accepted. This is all news to Parker. The clip was capped off by the scene where Spidey makes his cameo in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War."
CAPTAIN AMERICA - CIVIL WAR: Disney has held the premiere of the Marvel film and is offering up the following photos. The film's official synopsis reads as follows: "Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. Get ready to pick a side and join the nonstop action playing out on two fronts when Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” opens in U.S. theaters on May 6, 2016.
DOCTOR STRANGE: This November will see the debut of this character in the form of actor Benedict Cumberbatch, and Marvel has released the first trailer for it.
